Representative Cricket

Marrickville Cricket Club male and female players are eligible to be selected for Canterbury & Western Suburbs Cricket Association (CWSCA) teams from U12s to U16s competitions with other districts, organised by the Cricket NSW.  The Representative Shield Competition is now called the Cricket NSW Youth Championships.

Representative cricket offers players an opportunity to play at a high standard and get higher level coaching in a more competitive environment.

Representative cricket days are full day games, played on Sunday and are in addition to club games.  Age eligibility is the same as for club cricket (i.e. Under 13 for the forthcoming season means under 13 on 31 August).

CWSCA selection trials fare usually held in late August / early September and are open to all local cricketers.

For Under 12s to Under 16s teams, larger development squads are chosen in March and they do some training over winter before selection trials in early September.  Players outside those squads can also trial.

Being in a representative team is a substantial commitment, and can be very rewarding.
